Keruing Chogan

Descriptions

Keruing Chogan is a medium hardwood with strong (strength group of A and B) timber quality. It is a large tree that can grow up to a 50 metres tall with buttresses up to 1 metre tall. It is used for heavy constructions of multi-purposes; e.g. container flooring, railway sleeper, harbour works, bridges, power-lines and telegraph poles.

 

Keruing Chogan is the native habitat to a terrestrial of Malaysia lowland rainforest of the dry coastal hill. It prefers a tropical climate with full sun, well-drained soil and moderate water. Keruing Chogan is critically marked under the status of endangered species due to deforestation. The tree is propagated from seed.
