Pelawan

Descriptions

​

Pelawan is hard to a very hard and a heavy to very heavy timber, though it is a small tree. It can grow from 20m to 35 metres of diameter.  The species is reckoned for its durability and reddish of bark.

​

It is used for all heavy constructional works including posts, tools and handles, boat framing and other marine construction. It is a native habitat to a terrestrial of shoreline ecosystem. The tropical species of Malaysia rainforest is propagated from seed.

 

Pelawan also grows well in the ecosystems of the island and rocky headland as highly identified in Terengganu. The tree has aesthetic value due to its attractive and colourful bark. In the landscape, Pelawan beautifies a streetscape and a park.

For an effective growth, the planting prefers a full sun environment with moderate water.
