Botanical Name: Dipterocarpus Oblongifolius
Genus: Dipterocarpus
Family: Dipterocarpaceae
Native: Pahang, Selangor, Terengganu & Wilayah Persektutuan (Putrajaya)
Descriptions

Keruing Neram is a large tree that can reach a height between 30 to 40 metres with 2 metres of diameter. It is a medium hardwood and generally strong (strength group A and B).
Interestingly, the fruits are the source of food for Kelah conservation (Tor tambroides). The timber is used for heavy construction, posts, beams, joists, railway sleepers, harbour works, bridges, power-line posts and telegraph poles. At the contemporary, the materials for posts and beams are made of reinforced concrete. Importantly, Keruing Neram has ecological value. It helps to sustain the ecology of a riverbank by protecting the slope from erosion. The tree is the native habitat to a riverbank ecosystem. It is propagated from seed.
